How To Make The Job Easier For Your Roofing Contractor

Blog

When you hire a roofing company to replace your roof or make major repairs, you are putting the job in their hands. They are now responsible for ensuring that the new roof turns out well and continues to serve you for years to come. You won't have to do anything risky like climb on the roof or haul shingles up there; the trained roofers will take care of all that. But that being said, there are a few things you can do to make the project easier on your roofing contractor, thereby helping them to do their best work.

Let the neighbors know you're having your house re-roofed.

A couple of days before your roofing contractor is due to arrive, knock on your neighbors' doors and let them know you'll be getting a new roof. They can then make plans to park out of the roofing company's way, put tarps down to protect any close-by landscaping, and so forth. Roofing companies will often knock on neighbors' doors if they need them to move a car or do anything else, but by doing this preemptively, you are saving your roofers time on the first morning. They can then get straight to work with no obstructions.

Move any obstructions in your yard.

Roofers will usually set up ladders and stands on one side of the roof and just climb over to the other side. It's tough to say which side they will prefer to set up ladders on. That may depend on the weather on the day of the roof project and also on the shape of your roof. To be safe, just remove all obstructions within about 20 feet of your house on all sides. This includes anything like picnic tables, toys, and bikes.

Stock up on snacks and drinks.

To be clear, you are not required to provide food and beverages for the roofers. They should bring their own fare and take breaks for lunch as needed. However, if you have a few spare dollars to buy a cooler full of Gatorade and water and maybe a few bags of chips, your roofing contractors will much appreciate it. They'll love being able to grab a cool beverage and go right back to work, rather than having to run to the nearest gas station. Your project might get done sooner, and your roofers will be happy to go above and beyond for you as a customer — because you went above and beyond for them.

Keep these tips in mind as you contact a local roofing company like Acoma Roofing, Inc.

Creating Great Roofing From the Start

When you want to make your home shine, there are some very important basic components you should be mindful of. For starters, you should evaluate the exterior of your home to determine whether or not the siding or exterior cladding needs to be replaced. Next, you should check to see if the roofing needs to be replaced, since it really can make a powerful difference. Roofing can take up a great deal of the visual space from the outside, so think carefully about how yours looks. Pay attention to issues like aged, curling shingles or roofing that contains dips or divots. Check out this blog for great tips about roofing.
